Dr. Thomas Deas, Jr.
With the spring 2017 Physician Forum “Unveiling the Magic of Healthcare” coming up soon, we asked Dr. Thomas Deas, Jr., Vice President Physician Development, to share his thoughts on the importance of the educational forums NTSP provides to member physicians.
“We are entering an era of accountability in healthcare which will scrutinize and reveal physician performance in delivering quality patient outcomes, improved patient experience, and high value care for our patients.
Accountability will be driven by increasing physician performance transparency among physician peers, healthcare consumers, and patients.
It will be even more important for physicians to develop skills and tools for reporting quality outcomes and assuring cost-effective practice patterns as they will increasingly be compared to their peers and evaluated by healthcare consumers on these measures.
In this environment it becomes even more important that physicians are skilled in documenting high-risk conditions (RAF) as they directly impact both cost and quality outcomes.
Physician behavior is primarily driven by intrinsic concern for their patients, but physicians are also very competitive and desire to perform well with respect to their peers. Value-based performance incentives may also positively impact physician choices.
The hope is that greater accountability among physicians will magically transform our current volume-driven healthcare to value-driven healthcare.”
This event is exclusively for NTSP participating physicians. To learn more about how to become one of our physicians, please contact network@ntsp.com
